Fellows in Training

Explore the Sessions

Fellows in Training (FITs) who attend ACC.23/WCC will get up to speed on current medical advances and research, be in the room as results of Late-Breaking Clinical Trials that may transform cardiovascular care are revealed, network with colleagues, gain insight into non-clinical aspects of the cardiology profession and more.

At ACC.23/WCC, FITs will find sessions across 11 different learning pathways that were designed specifically with them in mind and will provide them with extensive learning opportunities through case presentations, debates, panel discussions, and question and answer time.

For FITs interested in cardiovascular imaging, the Multimodality Imaging Learning Pathway features an interactive session in which FITs and early career professionals will present challenging structural heart imaging cases to an expert heart team panel and ask how they would approach and manage the cases (Session 641).

For FITs seeking an overview of pulmonary hypertension (PH), the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Learning Pathway includes an overview session on diagnosing PH and identifying the proper treatment (Session 632). A second session will go beyond the basics of PH and explore challenging clinical scenarios in PH management (Session 511).

For FITs interested in interventional cardiology, the Interventional and Structural Learning Pathway features two boot camp sessions designed specifically for FITs. One session will cover hot structural and peripheral topics, including TAVR in the low-risk patient, emerging mitral and tricuspid percutaneous therapies and different techniques for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (Session 642). The second session will cover the fundamentals of common percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) scenarios, including multivessel PCI, cardiogenic shock and calcified lesions (Session 626).

FITs will have an opportunity to network with cardiology leaders in an interactive environment during the Mix & Mingle. The session will help foster discussions on different aspects of cardiology and may help guide FITs in choosing the right career path (Session 404). Finally, be sure to watch the Battle of the States FIT Jeopardy Competition as ACC state chapter FIT teams compete to come out on top in this exciting and educational competition.

Attend ACC.23/WCC to take advantage of these informative sessions, as well as other opportunities offered to FITs throughout the meeting.
