Convocation

Join us for the 69th Annual Convocation Ceremony on Monday, March 30, a premier event in cardiology designed to honor their legacy and celebrate the dedication of those among us today working to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health.

Convocation will take place in the Main Tent from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and will be followed by a reception outside the Main Tent in the foyer (McCormick Place, Hall B).

  • Mark the Transition of New Leadership: Witness the transfer of leadership our next ACC President, Athena Poppas, MD, FACC and hear her vision for the future.
  • Unite with Visionary Leaders: Convocation brings together national and international leaders and some of the most highly accomplished in the discipline. Celebrate and meet with these members of the cardiology community at the ceremony and reception.
  • Celebrate Achievement: At Convocation, we celebrate the years of dedication, hard work and professional achievement that have led our new FACCs, AACCs and awardees to this moment. Join us to stand among those making a difference and recognize them as professionals moving us, and the specialty, forward.

Improving How We Communicate CVD Risk to Patients
An interactive live session at ACC. 20/WCC
Marriott Marquis Chicago
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

As clinicians, we spend a lot of time thinking and talking about risk. While risk-related concepts may seem clear to us, they can register with patients as a confusing assortment of jargon and numbers. Moreover, patients' comprehension of and reactions to risk are influenced by a host of factors that are not always well understood by clinicians. Our patients' understanding of their personal cardiovascular risk is central to shared decision making, treatment initiation and adherence.

Please join us for an interactive session on how to improve risk communication in practice. Experts will discuss cognitive biases, risk scores, and making numbers meaningful. Discussions will be followed by a role play with audience participation encouraged. RSVP today.
