Ischemic Heart Diseases
Explore the Program
The Ischemic Heart Diseases (IHD) Learning Pathway at ACC.26 will deliver expertly curated sessions that are engaging, practical, and designed to equip attendees with insights they can apply immediately in practice. As a cornerstone of cardiology, IHD remains both foundational and full of clinical nuance. This year's program reflects attendee feedback and introduces fresh perspectives, with a focus on areas of ambiguity and controversy where guidance is often limited. Through case-based discussions, interactive formats and spirited debates, the pathway embraces the multidisciplinary realities of modern IHD care while amplifying audience engagement.
This year's highlights include core topics in ischemia and chronic coronary disease, from evolving approaches to guideline implementation to contemporary discussions over functional vs. anatomical assessment. Sessions on special populations and emerging conditions will explore ischemia beyond obstructive CAD, including SCAD, ANOCA, INOCA, MINOCA, and MI in young patients, as well as unique considerations in women's cardiovascular health. Attendees will also examine complex decision-making and controversies, such as refractory angina therapies, the ongoing CABG vs. PCI debate in left main disease, and evolving strategies for antiplatelet therapy. Finally, sessions on systems of care and patient engagement will address the realities of managing cardiogenic shock, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and chest pain evaluation, alongside practical strategies for counseling patients in the digital age.
